The New York Yankees changed the game of baseball forever when they obtained Babe Ruth from The Boston Red Sox following the 1919 season. They changed how the game was watched as well when they opened Yankee Stadium in 1923.

The triple decked stadium built on 161st Street & River Ave. in the Bronx – envisioned and constructed as a modern-day Stadium at Olympia by Yankees owner Jacob Ruppert was christened “The House That Ruth Built” and quickly became the home of the greatest baseball team in history and the (unofficial) host of the World Series. Since the iconic stadium’s inaugural year of 1923, The Yankees have appeared in the World Series 38 times, and “The Stadium” has been the home field for an astounding total of 103 World Series games, watched by millions of fans over four generations. The collection being offered here consists of a ticket to each and every one of those games, all in excellent condition and authenticated and encapsulated by SGC. It is believed this collection is a one of a kind. 

This amazing collection provides a virtual tapestry of the New York Yankees and their World Series history, beginning with Game 1 of the 1923 World Series and ending with Game 6 of the 2009 Fall Classic. This expansive lot includes Yankee Stadium tickets to the Babe Ruth/Murder’s Row World Series games of 1923, 1926, 1927, 1928 and 1932, as well as the Gehrig/DiMaggio era World Series games of the 1936, 1937, 1938, 1939, 1941, 1942 and 1943 seasons. Also included are the 1947, 1949 and 1950 World Series home game tickets featuring Jackie Robinson’s first World Series appearance and DiMaggio’s continued dominance of the Major Leagues. The 1951 World Series home game tickets mark DiMaggio’s last games at Yankee Stadium and the first World Series games for his replacement, Mickey Mantle.

Before Mr. October and Mr. November were ever conceived of, Mr. World Series himself-  Mickey Mantle – along with the great Yogi Berra, dazzled Yankee Stadium crowds at the World Series games of 1951 – 1953, 1955 – 1958 and 1960 – 1964, setting numerous World Series records along the way that still stand today.  After the 1964 World Series, The Yankees uncharacteristically failed to reach the Series again until 1976, when led by Captain Thurman Munson, they took on the  Cincinnati Reds “Big Red Machine”.  Although the Yankees lost their first World Series home games since 1964 and were swept away by the Reds, this World Series appearance set the stage for a return to greatness that brought World Series home games back to Yankee Stadium in 1977 (when Mr. October was born), 1978 and 1981. In the late 1990’s and early 2000’s the World Series truly returned to Yankee Stadium – courtesy of the “Core Four” all of whom took numerous star turns in the exciting World Series home games of 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2009.

While this collection highlights many individual ticket stubs of great value and historical significance, it’s unparalleled condition and uniformity are what truly place it in the highest echelon of Yankees ticket collections known to exist and is an instant centerpiece in any New York Yankees Collection.
