2019 Winter Auction Closing March 2
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/2/2019
Offered here are two pieces of catcher’s equipment used and signed by the Hall of Famer Mike Piazza. The first item in this lot is a silver Rawlings chest protector worn by Piazza in 1998 with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Florida Marlins. Piazza played his first 37 games of the season with the Dodgers before a May 14th trade sent him to the Marlins. After only five games in South Florida, the New York Mets acquired Piazza in exchange for Ed Yarnall, Preston Wilson, and Geoff Goetz. Piazza finished his career with 427 homers and a .308 batting average. In 2016, Piazza was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
The Rawlings chest protector in this lot is silver, with the Rawlings logo on the chest covered in black tape. Piazza has signed the front of this chest protector, which shows excellent use, in black marker. This item comes with a COA from PSA/DNA (4A10589) and a LOA from JT Sports. The facemask is also silver, with tan padding and black straps. A sun visor is located near the top of the facemask. Piazza has signed the head pad in black marker. This facemask shows excellent use and comes with a COA from PSA/DNA for Piazza’s signature (4A10603) and a LOA from JT Sports for the game use.
