History has forgotten who exactly the “Johnny Jr.” on this ball was, but back when Babe Ruth signed this ball to him, he would have undoubtedly counted himself as the luckiest boy in the world. A century later, a single-signed Babe Ruth baseball is still the cornerstone to any collection. This ball is signed “To Johnny Jr. From Babe Ruth” in bold black fountain pen on a full side panel. The panel containing Ruth’s signature and inscription has been treated with a coat of shellac, giving the ball a unique two-tome appearance as well as preserving the cherished autograph. The shellac shows some mottling from age, but Ruth’s signature shows very well beneath the warm amber coating. The untreated leather shows some scuffing and toning from age. A very attractive example of baseball’s ultimate collectible: A Babe Ruth single-signed ball. The ball comes with a LOA from JSA (Z79821) for the signature.
