Arguably the greatest hitting catcher of all-time, Piazza compiled some very impressive numbers in his 16-year career, knocking 427 home runs with 1,335 RBI and a .308 batting average. Drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 62nd round of the 1988 amateur draft as a favor to his father from manager Tommy Lasorda, Piazza was the 1993 NL rookie of the Year and a six-time All Star in Los Angeles but is perhaps best remembered for his eight years as a member of the New York Mets.
Piazza wore this black Rawlings catcher’s chest guard during the 2000 season with the Mets where he hit 38 home runs, drove in 113 with a lofty .324 batting average. This protector has segmented foam padding with black satin polyester covers with Rawlings strap systems. The border and straps are blue and this chest protector displays excellent game use. Piazza has signed the front in silver marker to the right of the Rawlings logo. This item comes with a LOA from JT Sports for the game use and a COA from PSA/DNA (4A10593) for the signature.
