Prior to the 1984 season, Cal Ripken, Jr. signed a $1 million contract, becoming the youngest player in the history of the Orioles franchise to make that milestone amount. The all-star shortstop was worth every penny as he hit 304 with 27 home runs, and 86 RBIs that year while setting an American League record with 583 assists. This Rawlings CR8 Model bat dates to that million dollar season. This Rawlings CR8 model bat shows excellent use with a crack in the lower handle. Many ball marks with white leather ball scuffs and blue ink transfers can be seen on the barrel and Ripken’s number “8” is boldly hand written on the knob end in black marker. This style of number is not seen on other Ripken gamers, but the placement of the wear and ball marks align with existing gamers in the PSA/DNA database. This bat comes with an LOA from PSA/DNA (1B15958) for the game use.
