The Hall of Fame rightfielder Willard Brown has signed this index card. Brown began his career in 1935 with the Kansas City Monarchs. Brown played his entire Negro Leagues career with the Monarchs, but in 1947 earned a 21-game cup of coffee with the St. Louis Browns. Brown connected for a home run and six RBI in his brief stint in St. Louis before returning to the Monarchs for the 1948 season. His home run made him the first African-American player to hit a home run in the American League. Brown was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2006. The former Browns star has signed this index card in blue pen. Brown’s signature is exceedingly rare, and this signed index card is a stunning example of Brown’s John Hancock. This item comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A75366).
