Encapsulated and assessed "Authentic" by SGC, one of just two examples validated by that company. Hall of Famer. A legitimately rare, delightfully obscure piece is presented. Although most of the delicate "strip" cards produced during the 1920's attracted buyers by hanging in plain view at news-stands, it's far more likely that this roughly postcard-sized, blank-backed piece was distributed only as a component of a boxed novelty set that also included small toys and perhaps candy. The card's four period superstars are shown in individual, tinted line-drawings; no captions are evident, but the athletes' identities are easily discerned today ... as they certainly were at the time this card was made. A fascinating and valuable collectible, featuring solid preservation attributes and exceptional visual appeal.
