Hall of Fame second baseman Jackie Robinson has signed this hardcover copy of his book Baseball Has Done It. Robinson, one of the most influential players in baseball history, enjoyed a sterling 10 season career in the Major Leagues. Robinson, a six-time All-Star, won the inaugural Rookie of the Year award in baseball and was the National League MVP in 1949. Robinson retired after the 1956 season rather than accept a trade away from the Dodgers, and in 1962 the former UCLA star was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.
Robinson has signed the first page of the book in blue pen. He has added a lengthy inscription to Whitney Young, an incredibly important figure in the Civil Rights movement and a contemporary of Robinson’s. The Brooklyn second baseman wrote “To Whitney Young growing respect, your leadership has been inspiring and I know you will continue your dedicated work. Continued Success”. Beckett Authentication Services have assigned a nearly perfect grade of MINT 9 to Robinson’s signature. The signature has earned this lofty grade thanks to its crisp look and beautiful appearance. This book is in good condition and is a truly unique treasure from two of the most important Civil Rights activists in American history. This first edition book comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A76129).
