Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul Jabbar, known then as Lew Alcindor, was awarded this United Press International 1969 Player of the Year Award for his play for the University of California-Los Angeles Bruins during the 1968-69 NCAA season. Abdul-Jabbar, in his final NCAA season, averaged 24 points and 14.7 rebounds per game for the NCAA champion Bruins. This certificate is housed in a UPI-branded folding display. The certificate has been signed by the Sports Editor of the United Press International. The certificate is in overall good condition. This item derives directly from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and a personally hand-signed LOA from Kareem will accompany this item.
