Before Kareem Abdul-Jabbar starred for the UCLA Bruins, the lanky center was the main attraction of the Power Memorial Academy basketball team in New York. Abdul-Jabbar led Power to a 71-game winning streak, with his 1965 senior season squad universally regarded as one of the best prep basketball outfits of the 20th century. Offered here is a framed display containing a ticket to the Power vs. St. Helena basketball game on December 4th, 1964, a photograph of Abdul-Jabbar, then known as Lew Alcindor, in action during a Power game, and a program from his 1965 graduation ceremony. Abdul-Jabbar is mentioned numerous times in the visible portion of this program, in one instance as the recipient of a New York State Regent scholarship and in a second example as “F. Lewis Alcindor” in the list of Power graduates. This display is presented in a 36 x 21-inch framed display and is accompanied by a LOA signed by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
