Utah Jazz rookie sensation Donovan Mitchell wore this Association Edition Jazz jersey for three games during the 2017-18 NBA season. The first game came on November 17th, 2017 at Barclays Center against the Brooklyn Nets. The Jazz lost this game 118-107 despite Mitchell’s near triple-double of 15 points, 8 assists, and 7 boards. Mitchell wore this jersey a second time the next day, during a 125-85 Jazz demolition of the Orlando Magic at Amway Center. Mitchell scored 12 points, made three of his four three-pointers, and contributed an additional 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals for the swarming Jazz. Mitchell’s next game in this jersey took place on November 20th, against the 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center in south Philadelphia. The former Louisville star scored 17 points in this contest, adding 5 assists and 4 rebounds for a Jazz squad at the end of their three-game road trip.
Mitchell, a long-limbed shooting guard, was selected with the 13th pick in the 2017 NBA Draft by the Nuggets, who traded him immediately to the Jazz for Tyler Lydon and Trey Lyles. Mitchell, who many draft experts criticized as too raw and not ready to lead an offense, averaged 20.5 points per game for the Jazz and led them to a first-round playoff victory against Russell Westbrook and the Thunder. Mitchell averaged 28.5 points per game against the Thunder, igniting the hopes of Jazz fans that a new franchise savior has landed in Salt Lake City.
