Ted Williams, of course, was arguably the greatest hitter in baseball history. In 19 seasons with the Boston Red Sox, the Splendid Splinter amassed 521 home runs with an astounding .344 batting average and was the last player to hit over .400 in 1941. David Ortiz, with his clutch hitting and presence in the lineup, led the Red Sox to three World Series titles for Boston, all coming at least 86 years since the Red Sox won a World Series in 1918. Two great players in baseball history and two iconic players in Red Sox history.

Ortiz put himself in Ted Williams company when he drove in three runs in the Red Sox 5-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on September 19th, 2014 at Camden Yards, giving Big Papi 102 RBI for the season. With his three RBI in the game, Ortiz passed Ted Williams in the Red Sox record books by becoming the first player in team history to hit at least 30 home runs and have 100 RBI in eight seasons. Ortiz would finish the 2014 season with 35 home runs and 104 RBI. Many great power hitters came through Boston, including Hall of Famers Jimmie Foxx, Carl Yastrzemski, Jim Rice and the aforementioned Ted Williams, but no in club history hit at least 30 home runs and drove in 100 for eight seasons.

Offered is the very jersey David Ortiz wore when he collected his 100th RBI of the 2014 season in that September 19th game. Ortiz hit two home runs in this jersey on September 19th and drove in the necessary runs to eclipse the 100 RBI mark. This size 50 Majestic Cool Base button-down road gray Boston Red Sox jersey features “BOSTON” sewn on in Tuscan style across the chest in red and navy tackle twill. Two Majestic tags are screen-printed on the bottom front left tail, with one of them having a bar code and “34 50 ‘14” identifiers. The back of the jersey has “ORTIZ” and a McAuliffe-style “34” in red and navy tackle twill and a MLB logo patch above the name. The left sleeve has the two hanging socks logo patch sewn on above the red embroidered Majestic logo. This jersey displays moderate game use and comes with a LOA from The MeiGray Group (1560369), who have photo matched this jersey to the September 18th game in Pittsburgh and the September 19th game in Baltimore. There is also a MLB Authenticated hologram (HZ 538089), which authenticates this jersey to the September 21st game in Baltimore. Please note that Ortiz did not play in this game and this was the last road game of the season for the Red Sox, which indicates this was the last road jersey Ortiz wore for the 2014 season.
