This album page has been signed by the Hall of Fame slugger Babe Ruth. Ruth, arguably the greatest player in baseball history, ended his career in 1935 with 714 home runs, although he held the record for home runs in a career since 1921. This album page is dated to February 15th, 1929, shortly before Ruth began yet another outstanding season. Ruth led all of baseball with 46 homers in 1929, adding 154 RBI and a sky-high .345 batting average for the 88-66 Yankees.
Ruth retired after the 1935 season, and in 1936 was selected for induction to the National Baseball Hall of Fame as a member of its charter class. Ruth has signed this album page in black pen. Inscriptions of the front of the album page read “New York Yankees” and “Feb 15-1929”. On the reverse side of the album page is “Aug. 16 - 48” – the date of Ruth’s death – handwritten in gray pencil. This album page has been encapsulated and authenticated by PSA/DNA (83390835).
