Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria wore this throwback home jersey during the Rays 3-0 win over the Chicago White Sox at Tropicana Field on July 6th, 2013. As the Rays franchise did not begin play until 1998, these “faux-back” uniforms approximate a possible Rays look during the 1970s. Longoria went hitless in this contest, reaching base in the first inning via walk. Longoria bounced back from an injury in 2013, hitting 32 homers with 88 RBI for the Rays while finishing sixth in American League MVP voting.

Offered in this lot are Longoria’s jersey and pants from the throwback contest. The jersey is navy, with light blue sleeves and accents. “Tampa Bay Rays” is sewn on the chest in light blue tackle twill, with 12 yellow tackle twill triangles sewn in the negative space of the “A” in “Rays”. Longoria’s number “3” is sewn on the chest and back in yellow tackle twill. “LONGORIA” is sewn across the back shoulders in yellow tackle twill below a MLB logo patch. A city of St. Petersburg patch is sewn on the left sleeve. Each sleeve features two navy stripes. This pullover jersey has a Majestic size “46” tag applied to the front left tail above a “Set 2013” swatch. Dirt stains are present on the chest of this jersey. Longoria has signed the “3” on the back of the jersey in blue marker. This jersey comes with a MLB Authenticated hologram (EK 481173).

Also included in this lot are Longoria’s pants from the July 6th game. The pants are light blue, with two navy stripes running down each leg. A Majestic tag is sewn on the back inside waistband next to a “3 Longoria 35-42 36 OB C ‘13” swatch. Please note that the “36” on the swatch has been crossed out, and “24” is written above it in black marker. These pants feature numerous dirt stains on the front and back. Longoria has signed these pants in blue marker above the back right pocket. The pants come with a MLB Authenticated hologram (EK 481172). A LOA from JSA (Z86339) covers both signatures.
