This Omega watch was presented to UCLA sophomore sensation Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, known then as Lew Alcindor, after the Bruins won the Los Angeles Classic, a tournament held just after Christmas in December of 1966. The Bruins, who went 30-0 and won the NCAA title in 1966-67, handily won the L.A. Classic by defeating Wisconsin 100-56, Georgia Tech 91-72, and crosstown rivals USC 107-83. This offered watch has a numberless face, with “Omega Automatic” and “Los Angeles Basketball Classic” etched on the face along with an image of a basketball arena. The reverse of the face is etched with “Champion / 1966 / Lew Alcindor / U.C.L.A.” Please note that the wristband is not the original. This watch derives directly from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and a personally hand-signed LOA from Kareem will accompany this item.
