Presented here is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s Uniform Player Contract with the Los Angeles Lakers for the 1987-88 and 1988-89 NBA seasons. These were the final two years of Abdul-Jabbar’s legendary career, with the great center leading the Lakers to the NBA Finals championship in 1988. This was Abdul-Jabbar’s sixth NBA title, earned in a brutal seven-game set against the Detroit Pistons. In 1988-89, Abdul-Jabbar led the Lakers to another appearance in NBA’s ultimate series for his 10th career NBA Finals.
Included in this lot is Abdul-Jabbar’s signed 1987 Uniform Player Contract with the Lakers, as well as a photocopy of the contract that includes an addendum. The original contract has been signed three times by both Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and the Lakers Hall of Fame general manager Jerry West in black pen. Additionally, West and Abdul-Jabbar have initialed the contract 10 times each. The photocopied contract features two facsimile signatures of Abdul-Jabbar’s and several facsimile initials. This lot comes with a LOA signed by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
