The Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was presented with this Victor Award in 1999 naming him the “NBA Player of the Century”. Abdul-Jabbar, a 19-time All-Star, is the NBA’s all-time leading scorer and a five-time NBA champion. Abdul-Jabbar won a record six NBA MVP awards and revolutionized post play in basketball with his iconic “skyhook” shot. The former UCLA star played 20 seasons in the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers before retiring after the 1988-89 NBA season. In 1995, Abdul-Jabbar was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
This offered Victor Award measures just under 20 inches tall and is constructed of a gold statuette of a man standing atop a black pedestal. The statuette is clutching a laurel wreath in his right hand. A plaque on the pedestal reads “Victor Awards XXXIII / Kareem Abdul-Jabbar / In Recognition Of Your Extraordinary Professional Career / Voted NBA Player of the Century / City of Hope / 1999”. This award comes with a LOA signed by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
