Offered here are two Sports Illustrated magazines from May 5th, 1980 signed by the cover star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. The lead article is titled “Kareem to Earth: Duck” with a picture of Abdul-Jabbar slamming the rock home against the Seattle SuperSonics. Abdul-Jabbar would lead the Lakers to the NBA title in 1980, defeating the Philadelphia 76ers in a six-game NBA Finals. The Lakers met the SuperSonics in the Western Conference Finals, beating the Pacific Northwest outfit in five games. Abdul-Jabbar has signed both of these magazines, on one in silver marker and the other in black marker. These magazines originate from Abdul-Jabbar’s personal collection and come with a LOA signed by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
