The Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar wore this white Western Conference uniform during the 1974 NBA All-Star Game at the Seattle Center Coliseum in Seattle, Washington. This was the fifth of Abdul-Jabbar’s 19 career All-Star Games, and his penultimate All-Star appearance with the Milwaukee Bucks. Abdul-Jabbar started and scored 14 points in the exhibition contest, adding eight rebounds, six assists, a steal, and a block in a well-rounded performance. The Western Conference, boasting a starting lineup with four future Hall of Famers, defeated the Eastern Conference 134-123, with Pistons center Bob Lanier earning the All-Star Game MVP trophy.
Abdul-Jabbar was the best player in the NBA in 1973-74, winning his third Most Valuable Player trophy in four seasons. The former UCLA star averaged 27 points, 14.5 rebounds, 4.8 steals, and 3.5 blocks per game as he led the Bucks to 59-23 regular season record and the Midwest Division title. The Bucks reached the NBA Finals, narrowly missing the title in a seven-game defeat to the Boston Celtics. Abdul-Jabbar played one more season in Milwaukee before a June 1975 trade sent the future Hall of Famer to Los Angeles.
This offered Western Conference uniform consists of Abdul-Jabbar’s jersey and shorts from the 1974 NBA All-Star Game. The jersey has “WEST” and Abdul-Jabbar’s number “33” sewn on the chest in blue and red tackle twill. “ABDUL-JABBAR” is sewn across the back shoulders in blue tackle twill above a blue and red tackle twill “33”. Two blue tackle twill stars are sewn on the chest. A Sand-Knit size “46” tag is sewn on the front left tail. Abdul-Jabbar has signed the chest of the jersey in black marker. Also included in this lot are Abdul-Jabbar’s white Western Conference shorts. The shorts are accented with red-blue-red stripes. A NBA logo patch is sewn on the right leg while a Seattle All-Star Game patch is sewn on the left leg. A Sand-Knit size “36” tag is sewn on the back inside waistband. This uniform comes with a LOA signed by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar himself.
