Washington Nationals ace Stephen Strasburg wore this gray Nationals road jersey for five games during the 2017 MLB regular season and postseason. Strasburg pitched arguably the best season of his career in 2017, starting 28 games and compiling a 15-4 record for the second consecutive season. The San Diego State product had the lowest full-season ERA of his career (2.52) and struck out 204 batters in 175.1 innings.
Strasburg wore this gray road jersey during starts on May 16th, June 2nd, July 17th, September 5th, and October 11th. Strasburg earned his fourth win of the season on May 16th, pitching six innings and allowing three runs in the Nationals 8-4 victory over Pittsburgh at PNC Park. At the plate, Strasburg went 1-3 with a run scored against the Pirates. On June 2nd, Strasburg pitched seven innings, striking out seven and allowing only two runs, in Washington’s 13-3 victory over the Oakland A’s. With the win, Strasburg pushed his season record to 7-1. Strasburg turned in another exemplary start on July 17th, pitching seven innings with 11 strikeouts in a 6-1 road victory over the Cincinnati Reds. Strasburg allowed only one run in this game, on a solo home run to Reds third baseman Eugenio Suarez. His record improved to 10-3 after this contest.
On September 5th, Strasburg outdueled Miami Marlins starter Odrisamer Despaigne, striking out eight over six scoreless innings in this 2-1 Washington victory. This was Strasburg’s 12th win of the season. The final game in which Strasburg wore this jersey was a postseason contest against the Chicago Cubs on October 11th in Game 4 of the NLDS.
