Led by stars Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, Bill Skowron and Yogi Berra, the 1960 New York Yankees won the American League with a record of 97-57. Mantle clubbed 40 home runs, while Maris hit 39 HRs with 112 RBIs. Skowron hit .309, adding 26 HRs and 91 RBIs. On the mound, Art Ditmar won 15 games with a 3.06 ERA and Whitey Ford posted similar numbers (12 wins, 3.08 ERA). Casey Stengel’s club ultimately lost the World Series to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Bill Mazeroski’s legendary Game 7 walk-off home run.
