The Boston Red Sox teams of the late 1930’s and early 1940’s boasted a handful of the games all-time greatest players. The veteran superstars Lefty Grove and Jimmie Foxx supported a new wave of legends, with players such as Ted Williams and Bobby Doerr providing a new foundation for the Sox to build upon.
This Official American League William Harridge baseball has been signed by many of the players who made the Red Sox one of baseball’s most storied franchises. Lefty Grove has signed the sweet spot, while the panel to the south of the sweet spot features a stunning Jimmie Foxx signature, as well as those of Joe Cronin and Mel Parnell. The panel west of the sweet spot has been signed by Ted Williams and Red Sox owner Tom Yawkey, the longest tenured owner in MLB history. The panel to the east of the sweet spot has been signed by Jim Piersall, Bill Goodman, George Kell, and one other. The panel north of the sweet spot has been signed by the Hall of Famers Lou Boudreau and Bobby Doerr, as well as longtime Red Sox catcher Sammy White. The signatures on this ball have been written in blue and black pen. This baseball originates from the personal collection of Boston Red Sox Hall of Famer Bobby Doerr. This baseball comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA, and a LOA from the Doerr family will accompany this baseball.
