The Los Angeles Dodgers entered the 1988 Postseason with the second-fewest wins of any playoff team. They left the playoffs as the owners of the Commissioner’s trophy, having defeated the New York Mets in a seven-game National League Championship Series and beaten the Oakland Athletics in a five-game World Series. Orel Hershiser, the 1988 National League Cy Young winner, won both the NLCS and World Series MVP trophies, although Kirk Gibson earned his status as an enduring Dodger icon thanks to his game-winning homer in Game 1 of the World Series. Gibson’s walk off was the first time in World Series history that a World Series game ended with a come-from-behind longball.

Offered here are lineup cards for seven of the Dodgers postseason games, each accompanied by the opposing team’s lineup card for a total of 14 lineup cards. These lineup cards were consigned to us as part of the Tommy Lasorda collection from Lasorda's agent.The lineup cards are for Games 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 of the National League Championship Series, as well as Game 2 of the Fall Classic against the A’s. Games 1, 2, and 6, of the NLCS and Game 2 of the World Series all took place at Dodger Stadium, while the remaining lineup cards are from contests at Shea Stadium. Each Los Angeles lineup card has been signed by Hall of Fame manager Tom Lasorda in blue pen. “Lose 3-2” is written on the Game 1 lineup card, while “Win 6-3 Playoffs Game 2” is written on the lineup card from the second game of the NLCS.

The six New York Mets lineup cards have been written in what appears to be black pencil, while the A’s lineup card from Game 2 has been handwritten in blue pen. Davey Johnson has signed the Mets lineup cards, while the Hall of Fame skipper Tony La Russa has signed the A’s lineup card. These historically significant lineup cards are in good condition, with a crease down the center from folding the only imperfection. This run of 14 lineup cards are a tremendous memento from the Dodgers most recent World Series championship.
