Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame second baseman Bobby Doerr threw out this Official American League Gene A. Budig ball for the ceremonial first pitch before the Boston Red Sox game against the Cleveland Indians at Fenway Park on June 25th, 1996. Doerr was called to Fenway to throw out the first pitch to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the 1946 World Series. The Red Sox lost the 1946 Fall Classic in seven games to the St. Louis Cardinals, despite Doerr’s .409 batting average, home run, and three RBI in the series.

Doerr has signed this baseball on the panel north of the sweet spot in black pen. Doerr inscribed “June 25/96 Threw out first ball 50th anniversary Red Sox World Series” above his signature on this ball. This baseball originates from the personal collection of Boston Red Sox Hall of Famer Bobby Doerr. This item has been pre-certified by PSA/DNA, and a LOA from the Doerr family will accompany this baseball.
