The legendary heavyweight boxer James Corbett has signed and inscribed this photograph. Corbett, active from 1886 to 1903, fought only 20 times as a professional but is widely lauded for his skill and tenacity. Corbett inflicted upon John L. Sullivan the first loss of his career in 1892, knocking out the former champion in the 21st round. This photograph shows Corbett dressed in a sharp suit, and its visible area measures 7.25 x 9 inches. Corbett has signed this photograph in black pen, inscribing “To my friend Chas Silkis with best regards” and “Oct 10/30” in addition to his signature. This photograph is displayed in a 17 x 18-inch frame and comes with a LOA from JSA (Z78353).
