Offered here is a stunning and unique three-dimensional painting by the noted sports artist Steve “Spud” Sax. The painting, titled “Sudden Death”, shows the ending of the 1958 NFL Championship game, widely acknowledged as one of the greatest endings in sports history. Colts fullback Alan Ameche burst through the line of scrimmage to score the game winning touchdown with 6:45 left in the overtime period. The Colts won this game 23-17 at Yankee Stadium. This painting has the Colts and Giants players “popping out” of the background of this painting, which prominently shows the famous Yankee Stadium façade. This painting was done on wood. Painted on the back of the 36 x 24-inch painting in blue is “Sudden Death” and “Sax 16”. This fascinating painting is the perfect collectible for any football fan.
