Graded VG 3 by PSA. Hall of Famer. No "sophomore jinx" for the "Splendid Splinter!" In 1940, the young Ted Williams enjoyed a solid campaign. He led the league in runs scored and on-base percentage while batting a whopping .344 – which, coincidentally, is also his lifetime batting average. The black-and-white, photographic design of Williams' second-year card afforded collectors this appealing depiction of the future American icon. Its cardfront image reveals deep, rich detail surrounded by clean borders that are punctuated by natural wear at the corners. The card's surfaces exhibit a few small spots of light age-toning. A popular Ted Williams commemorative, in Very Good condition.
