Presented here is a collection of four Type II Babe Ruth photographs developed circa 1948 from original glass plate negatives of shots from the 1920s and 1930s. Three photographs, each measuring 6 ½ x 8 ½ inches, show Ruth at the plate. One is dated to June 14th, 1921 and has the “INTERNATIONAL NEWS PHOTOS” stamp. This photograph has been designated a Type II photograph by PSA/DNA (1P10476) who have issued a LOA in which it states in part that this photograph was “later-issued 1948 example that was restruck by International from their original glass plate negative featuring an image taken in 1921.” The second photograph shows Ruth at the plate in 1922 in a follow-through swing looking straight upwards. This photograph measures 6 ½ x 8 ½ inches and has a faded black “INTERNATIONAL NEWS PHOTOS” stamp on the back. This photograph has been designated a Type II photograph by PSA/DNA (1P10473) who have issued a LOA in which it states in part that this photograph was “later-issued 1948 example that was restruck by International from their original glass plate negative featuring an image taken in 1922.

The third photograph is a 1927 image of Ruth in a follow through swing in what appears to be a spring training or exhibition game. This photograph measures 6 ½ x 8 ½ inches and has a faded black “INTERNATIONAL NEWS PHOTOS” stamp on the back. This photograph has been designated a Type II photograph by PSA/DNA (1P10477) who have issued a LOA in which it states in part that this photograph was “later-issued 1948 example that was restruck by International from their original glass plate negative featuring an image taken in 1927.” The fourth photograph in this lot shows a portrait of Ruth from the chest up looking into the camera in 1935 and measures 6 ½ x 8 ½ inches. Each photograph has period stamping on the reverse side. This is a fantastic collection for any serious baseball memorabilia hunter. This photo has a faded red “INTERNATIONAL NEWS PHOTOS” stamp on the back.
