Offered here is a framed scorecard from Opening Day of the 1916 MLB season. The most notable game during the Wednesday, April 12th slate was a 2-1 Boston Red Sox victory over the Philadelphia Athletics at Fenway Park. The Red Sox were led by their young ace Babe Ruth, who pitched 8.1 innings of four-hit ball, allowing only a solitary unearned run for Boston. Everett Scott and Chick Shorten knocked in both runs for the Red Sox, while Nap Lajoie had the lone RBI for Philadelphia. This scorecard includes scores from all eight MLB games played on the 12th, as well as mentioning four New York State league games. This scorecard was produced in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and it is framed next to a black and white photograph of Ruth in a Red Sox uniform. This scorecard is presented in a 35 x 20-inch framed display.
