The 18th President of the United States of America, Ulysses S. Grant, has signed this warrant pardon document. Grant, who rose to national prominence as a Union general during the Civil War, was elected president in 1868 as the successor to Andrew Johnson. Grant served two terms and was succeeded by Rutherford B. Hayes. This warrant pardon document was signed by Grant on January 25th, 1871, approximately two years after Grant took office. The document pardoned one “Andrew Scott”, and it has been signed by President Grant in black pen. The document is displayed in a 23.5 x 15.5-inch frame next to a black and white photograph of President Grant. This warrant pardon document comes with a LOA from JSA (Z87972).
