The legendary broadcaster Dick Enberg and UCLA head coach John Wooden enjoyed a long friendship and relationship beginning when Enberg called UCLA basketball games from 1966 to 1977. Enberg called UCLA during the prime Wooden years, from the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar dynasty until two years after Wooden stepped down from the Bruins head coaching job. These three items all derive from the personal memorabilia collection of Dick Enberg. The first item in this lot is a 2006 McDonald’s All American High School Basketball Game basketball signed by Wooden in black marker. Wooden has singed his name next to the McDonald’s All America logo, and he inscribed “UCLA” below his signature. This basketball comes with a COA from Beckett Authentication Services (F63877). The second item in this lot is a gray booklet containing trading cards of Wooden Award winners. 17 trading cards are included. Wooden has signed the inside cover of the booklet in black marker, inscribing “Your interest + help, Dick, is and has been greatly appreciated. Best Wishes”. This booklet comes with a COA from JSA (AA82270). Finally, a plaque presented to Enberg for his help with the book The 25 Wooden Years is included. Printed near the bottom border of this 20 x 16-inch plaque is “To Dick Enberg / For helping to make this book a success and life a bit happier for the kids of Uni-Camp / UCLA February, 1973”. This plaque is in good condition. This lot is accompanied by a LOA from the Enberg family.
