Coach Jerry Tarkanian’s 1989-90 UNLV Rebels squad was loaded with talent, and the results certainly showed on the basketball court as they finished the regular season with a record of 26-5. Three postseason conference wins later and the Rebels were the Big West champions heading into the NCAA Tournament, seeded # 1 in the West. UNLV would go on to average over 95 points per game in the tourney, running off six straight victories – including a 103-73 drubbing of Duke in the National Final – to win the national championship (and finish with an overall record of 35-5 for the season). Larry Johnson was the team’s top player, averaging 20.6 points and 11.4 rebounds per game. Johnson had plenty of help in the form of Stacey Augmon (14.2 points, 6.9 rebounds), Anderson Hunt (15.9 points), David Butler (15.8 points, 7.4 rebounds) and Greg Anthony (11.2 points, 7.4 assists).

Presented here is a Jostens 10K gold 1990 UNLV NCAA basketball national championship ring, featuring a large black stone face displaying “NCAA”, with “1990 CHAMPIONS” – separated by small CZs – appearing around the bezel setting. One side is centered by the image of a basketball going through a hoop, with the name “TARKANIAN” in a banner above. The opposite side features a banner reading “UNLV” above an NCAA logo. Inside the band of this approximate size 11 ring is marked “© JOSTEN’S 10K”.  This ring, which weighs approximately 25.4 grams, includes the original hinged wooden presentation box which features a metal NCAA logo.
