Holiday Auction Closing December 8, 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/8/2018
Offered in this lot is a pair of white alternate home pants that were issued to New York Mets ace Pedro Martinez for the 2006 MLB Postseason. Martinez, a three-time Cy Young winner, was named an All-Star while with the Mets in 2006, however a series of late season injuries prevented Martinez from appearing in the postseason. The Mets made it to the National League Championship Series, where they fell to the St. Louis Cardinals in a riveting seven-game series. Martinez, who retired after the 2009 MLB season, was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2015 on his first ballot.
These offered home pants are white, with blue piping running down either leg. A Majestic tag is sewn on the back inside waistband next to a “45 Martinez 35-39 C 06 P3” swatch. Also included in this lot is a black and gray Nike undershirt worn by Martinez. This shirt has a MLB Authentic Collection tag applied to the front tail and a washing instructions flag attached to the back inside collar. The tag and flag both have Martinez’s number “45” handwritten in black marker. This lot comes with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
