Presented here are the state of California license plates from Tupac Shakur’s beloved 1995 Rolls Royce Corniche IV convertible. Shakur, who was tragically murdered in September of 1996, drove the black convertible constantly, and the car became an iconic part of his image. The license plates are white, with “California” printed across the top in red cursive script. “3RQS301” is embossed on each license plate in blue text.

Also included in this lot are the registration papers for Shakur’s Corniche. These papers reveal that the car was registered to Suge Knight, the chief of Death Row Records and a notorious figure in rap history. The car was registered on July 3rd, 1996, two months before Shakur was murdered in Las Vegas leaving the Bruce Selden vs. Mike Tyson fight at the MGM Grand with Knight. Finally, the manila envelope containing the registration information sent to Death Row Records is included. “TUPAC” is written on the envelope in gray pencil, while “Death Row Record/Rolls” and the vehicles identification number are written in black marker. This lot comes with a Letter of Provenance from a close friend and associate of Tupac.
