Offered here are three game used bats from Sam Jethroe, Ron Fairly and Kurt Abbott. The first bat was used by Sam Jethroe, the 1952 National League Rookie of the Year. Jethroe’s Hillerich & Bradsby H4 model bat dates to Jethroe’s 1954 season, his last full season in the Majors. This bat displays heavy game use and is un-cracked. There are ball marks and checking or grain swelling from repeated ball contact present on the barrel. There is a 5 x 1-inch piece missing on the back barrel as a result of the checking. The bat’s model number “H4” is stamped on the knob. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B15415) for the game use.

The second bat was used by first baseman/outfielder Ron Fairly. Fairly’s Hillerich & Bradsby W215 model bat displays heavy game use and is un-cracked. There is checking or grain swelling from repeated ball contact present on the back barrel and there are ball marks are visible on all sides of the barrel. There is a light coating of pine tar on the handle and the model number “W215” is stamped on the knob. There is a player number handwritten in faded black marker on the knob, but is not legible. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B15353) for the game use. Please note that PSA/DNA has opined “This Ron Fairly professional model bat displays what we consider to be ‘post player use’, preventing us from determining the amount of game use by Ron Fairly”.

The final bat in this lot is a Louisville Slugger C271 model bat used by former shortstop, second baseman and leftfielder Kurt Abbott during the 1994 season. This bat displays excellent game use with a crack on the handle. This bat has been attributed to Abbott’s first career grand slam on June 5th, 1994, off San Diego Padres’ pitcher Andy Ashby. Abbott’s number “7” and the bat’s model number “C271” are handwritten on the knob. Abbott has signed this bat in blue marker on the barrel and inscribed “#7” and “To Mike My first major league grandslam off Andy Ashby 6-5-94”. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B13267) and has been graded a near-perfect GU 9, plus a COA signed by Kurt Abbott authenticating that this bat was used to hit the grand slam on June 5, 1994. Abbott’s signature on the bat comes with a STICKER ONLY from JSA (V16330).
