Among the trove of tributes produced after Babe Ruth’s death, this is one of the lesser-known regional rarities. The item was commissioned and distributed by a small bottling company, Hund & Eger of St. Joseph, Missouri. Offered here is a 1-1/2" memorial coin reminiscent of the ones handed out at Ruth’s New York City funeral. The distinctive coin’s well-struck front offers a beautiful raised swinging pose and the lettering, "GEORGE HERMAN RUTH - 1895 - 1948." A horseshoe/four-leaf-clover emblem occupies the reverse, along with, "HUND & EGER - GOOD LUCK COIN - PURE SODA WATER." A scarce and intriguing Babe Ruth remembrance piece.
