Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was presented with this John Norton Memorial award as a member of the All-C.H.S.A.A. Tournament Team in 1964, his junior year of high school at Power Memorial Academy in New York. Abdul-Jabbar, then known as Lew Alcindor, won Mr. Basketball USA honors in both 1964 and 1965 before embarking on his legendary three-season career at UCLA. This trophy measures approximately 5 inches tall and stands on a circular base 3.5 inches in diameter. The trophy is topped with a gold basketball. However, it should be noted that some of the gold paint is peeling due to age. Etched on the base of the trophy is “John Norton Memorial Award / All CHSAA Tournament Team 1964”. This item derives directly from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and a personally hand-signed LOA from Kareem will accompany this item.
