Graded EX 5 by PSA. Hall of Famer, in his debut-year appearance on Topps gum cards. A scarcer "High Number" 1952 Topps entry. The final series of the inaugural set of "Giant Size Baseball Cards" was released late in the '52 season. It was correctly anticipated at the time that distribution would be heavily skewed in favor of the New York area. Accordingly, an abundance of Yankees, Giants and Dodgers were included among the High Numbers' contents. It is to this set of circumstances that the hobby owes a debt of gratitude for the existence of this sparkling Jackie Robinson collectible. Today, the viewer of this soaringly attractive piece finds it especially compelling. The smiling likeness of the Dodgers' #42 radiates health, joy and optimism from within a frame of clean white borders on this pleasing copy. Traces of light handling and slightly rightward image placement leave its grand, individual mystique fully intact. Excellent condition.
