Offered here is a pair of Franklin batting gloves worn and signed by the Hall of Fame rightfielder Tony Gwynn. Gwynn, a lifelong San Diego Padre, collected 3,141 hits in his illustrious 20-season career. Gwynn was one of the most spectacularly consistent hitters in baseball, hitting over .300 in every season except his 54-game rookie cameo in 1982. Gwynn claimed eight national League batting titles, with his single-season high of .394 coming in the strike-shortened 1994 campaign. The native San Diegan retired after the 2001 season, and in 2007 Gwynn was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on his first ballot.

The Padres star attraction wore these gloves during the 1998 MLB season. Gwynn, a 1998 National League All-Star, hit .321 with 16 longballs and 69 RBI. He finished the 1998 campaign with 2,928 hits, with his milestone 3,000th coming on August 6th, 1999 during a road game against the Montreal Expos. These offered batting gloves are blue, with two white strips of tape on each finger. The right thumb has been customized and reinforced. Each wrist strap boasts a Tony Gwynn logo, while a Franklin logo is applied to the top of each hand. Gwynn has signed the Franklin logos in blue marker, however his signature has experienced significant bleeding. These gloves come with a COA from the Gwynn family.
