Each item has been encapsulated by PSA/DNA. Hall of Famer. Presented here is a wondrous tribute to baseball legend and military hero Ted Williams, in the form of a complete, 80-card set of individually front-signed trading cards, along with two unopened packs from the popular release. All eighty of the cards have been holdered by PSA/DNA with signatures assessed "Authentic." Both of the unopened five-cent wax packs have been graded and encapsulated by PSA; one is labeled PSA NM 7, the other has been graded PSA EX-MT 6. The collectibles within their holders have been separated into two groups (forty cards and one pack, in each), and these portions are housed within an elegant pair of framed displays. The duo of specially fabricated pieces – affording a matted niche for each single component and a superbly decorative, approximately 40" x 58" wood surround for each of the set's halves – represents the highest quality of such materials employed in the industry.

The 1959 Fleer gum card set has been a collector favorite for many years. The production enjoys a well-deserved status as a hobby treasure, with its soft pastel coloring, bright white card stock and, above all, detailed biographical illustrations from the career of its revered subject. Those hallmarks of design that give the cards their beauty also tend to leave them susceptible to condition disappointments, but the array seen here upholds a marvelously high standard. Throughout, the elements of this meticulously constructed assembly reflect only faint and barely evident traces of past handling. A highlight of this extraordinary set is a splendid specimen of card #68, the "key" piece in the issue and a well-known modern rarity. (Number 68 was withdrawn from production because Fleer didn't properly secure permission to use the likeness of Red Sox General Manager Bucky Harris, who is pictured on this card with Ted as he signed his contract for the 1959 season.) Additional fascinating items in the set – several of which show Ted with other sports luminaries – include: #'s 1 Early Years, 2 Williams/Ruth, 11 Williams/Foxx, 17 Ted Hit .400, 39 Williams/Cronin/E. Collins, 63 All-Star Record, 67 Williams/Snead, 70 Williams/Thorpe, 75 Williams/Ruth/Collins and 80 Ted's Goals. Evocative color illustrations, showcasing Ted Williams' life on and off the field, have made this issue one of the most popular 1950s card productions, and the offered assembly – bedecked with his cherished signatures in vivid blue or black ink – is spectacular throughout. Williams, a first-ballot Hall of Fame selectee in 1966, passed away in 2002.
