The Hall of Fame third baseman Mike Schmidt wore this red Philadelphia Phillies batting helmet circa 1975. Schmidt, who debuted in 1972, led the National League in homers from 1974 through 1976. During the 1975 season, Schmidt crushed 38 longballs with 95 RBI and a career-high 29 stolen bases. Schmidt would lead the National League in home runs eight times, winning three National League MVP awards and earning induction into Cooperstown on his first ballot in 1995.

This red Phillies helmet has a white “P” logo applied to the front of the helmet and an American Baseball Co. logo applied to the back. A crack in the helmet is present on the back of the helmet and over the ear flap, which is situated on the left side of the helmet. The interior padding of the helmet is present, however the pad on the back of the head is not attached to the helmet. Schmidt’s number “20” is handwritten in black marker on the back of the helmet and on the brim. Schmidt has signed the top of the helmet in black marker, inscribing “To Bill Best Wishes” in addition to his signature. This helmet comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication Services for the signature (A19457) and a LOA from JT Sports for game use.
