Graded 88 NM/MT 8 by SGC. Hall of Famer. This is one of a mere dozen examples at its tier (with seven graded higher) among a total of 670 copies recorded in SGC's census reporting. This beautiful, yellow-backgrounded piece has always, and rightfully, been considered one of Mays' most attractive cards. Offered is a high-end 1954 Topps Mays card that has not been victimized by the subtle printing problems usually associated with its issue. The quality of the item's colors, and its print resolution, are truly exceptional from both front and back perspectives. All four corners are perfectly shaped, and each one is sharply defined at its tip. Light and clean "rough cuts" at the edges contribute to the card's uncirculated appearance, and its centering is notably precise. Although the term "pack-fresh" always threatens to become the most overused cliché in our industry, there is no other, fully appropriate term available to properly describe this card's remarkable aesthetic character.
