Presented here is a Yankee Stadium visitor’s bullpen home plate signed by Mariano Rivera. The plate was removed from play after the Yankees game against the San Francisco Giants on September 22nd, 2013. This was Rivera’s penultimate MLB game, with the future Hall of Famer pitching the final 1.2 innings of the game. Rivera struck out one and did not allow a run in his 1,114th career regular season appearance. The plate was also used on September 20th, when Rivera pitched a perfect ninth in the Yankees 5-0 win over the Giants, and on the 21st of September, when Ivan Nova tossed a complete game shutout in a 6-0 Yankees victory. Rivera has signed the surface of this home plate in black marker, inscribing “Exit Sandman / 1995-2013 / Last to Wear #42” below his signature. This plate is accompanied by a LOA from Steiner Sports (200202), a COA from Steiner Sports, and a MLB Authenticated hologram (EK 809190).
