This is one of the finest Rod Carew gamers you will ever encounter, for it comes with a unique signed letter from the Hall of Famer. Written on vintage Minnesota Twins letterhead and dated 11/23/02, Carew states that this bat was not only his favorite gamer used during the 1977 season, but the one he had Louisville Slugger model all his future C243 model bat on. Carew won both the AL MVP Award and Batting Championship using this bat, so it is only natural that he would want to clone it for future use. The Hillerich & Bradsby C243 model bat is un-cracked and shows light use. A few ball marks are found on the right barrel along with blue and green bat rack paint streaks. A light coat of pine tar still clings to the handle and the Hall of Famer has signed the upper barrel in blue marker. The remnants of an inscription are also visible adjacent to the signature. In addition to the signed letter from Carew, the bat comes with a LOA from MEARS (311329) for the game use and a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B16165) for the game use, who have graded this bat a near-perfect GU 9. Additionally, there is a LOA from JSA (Z67446) for the signature.
