Kirby Puckett was on the way to leading the American League in hits when he was voted to appear in his second All-Star Game in 1987. In the game held in Oakland-Alameda Stadium, Puckett and his AL teammates ran into stiff NL pitching in the form of Rick Sutcliffe, Sid Fernandez, Orel Hershiser and Steve Bedrosian, and managed just 6 hits in the 2-0 NL win. As was custom at the time, each member of the All-Star team was presented with special bats made specifically for use in the Mid-Summer Classic. Puckett’s All-Star Game Rawlings P302 model bat displays excellent use with a secured handle crack. There are several ball marks and white leather ball scuffs on the barrel and pine tar is found on the handle. The barrel carries the special “1987 ALL-STAR GAME” stamping and the Hall of Famer has signed the barrel in silver marker. The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B16164) for the game use and has been graded a near-perfect GU 9, plus a LOA from JSA (Z67458) for the signature.
