The 1980 United States Olympic Hockey team engineered one of the greatest upsets in sporting history by defeating the dominant “Red Army” hockey team of the USSR in the semi-final round of the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympics. The United States team, led by coach Herb Brooks, was a rag-tag outfit of collegiate amateur players facing off against some of the best hockey players in the world, such as Vladislav Tretiak, Valeri Kharlamov, and Boris Mikhailov. The world expected the USSR to roll to victory, but a gutsy and disciplined performance from the United States produced a shocking 4-3 upset immortalized by Al Michael’s signature call – “Do you believe in miracles? Yes!”. Offered here is a 16 x 20-inch team photograph of the United States Men’s Hockey team signed by 21 members of the gold medal squad. Signatures include coach Herb Brooks, team captain Mike Eruzione, Steve Janaszak, Bill Baker, Mark Johnson, Buzz Schneider, Jack O’Callahan, Jim Craig, Bob Suter, Rob McClanahan, Mark Wells, Neal Broten, Mark Pavelich, Phil Verchota, Steve Christoff, Ken Morrow, Mike Ramsey, Dave Christian, Dave Silk, John Harrington, and Eric Strobel. The signatures have been written in blue marker and comes with a LOA from JSA.
