Offered in this lot are two Sportscaster of the Year awards presented to the ubiquitous Dick Enberg and originating from his personal memorabilia collection. The first award in this lot is the Walter Camp Football Foundation 1979 Sportscaster of the Year award presented to Enberg. This award is a 13 x 11-inch wooden plaque, with two smaller placards affixed to the front. One boasts an image of Walter Camp, and the printed text “Walter Camp / Father of the Great American Game of Football / April 17, 1859 – March 14, 1925”. The second plaque is etched with “Walter Camp Football Foundation / Presented to Dick Enberg / ‘1979 Sportscaster of the Year’ / In appreciation for his services at our All American Dinner / February 2, 1980 / Yale University”.
The second plaque honors Enberg with the 1986 Southern California Broadcasters Association 1986 Broadcaster of the Year award. This award measures 12 x 9 inches. A placard on the front of the award reads “Dick Enberg / Broadcaster of the Year / For Excellence and for the Clarity and Sincerity of Your Broadcasts / 1986 / Southern California Broadcasters Association”. These awards come with a LOA from the Enberg family.
