Buffalo Bills running back O.J. Simpson was awarded these two Hickok Professional Athlete of the Month award plaques for his performance in November and December of 1973 for the Bills. Simpson had one of the best seasons in NFL history in 1973, rushing for 2,003 yards in only 14 games for the 9-5 Bills. Simpson was the first running back to surpass the 2,000-yard-mark and is the only tailback to accomplish the feat in a 14-game season. Simpson carried the ball 75 times for 422 yards in his four November games and 80 times for 556 yards in three December contests. Both of these offered award plaques are wooden, and measure 8 x 6 inches. A gold placard with a high-relief Hickok Award logo is applied to each plaque. The placard on the first award is etched with “Hickok Professional Athlete of the Month / O.J. Simpson / November 1973”, while the second is etched with “Hickok Professional Athlete of the Month / O.J. Simpson / December 1973”. Each plaque is in good condition.
