Former third baseman Eddie Yost had a solid playing career with the Washington Senators, Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles. When his playing career ended in 1962, he began his 23-year coaching career under his former teammate Mickey Vernon with Senators in 1963. Yost managed one game when Vernon was replaced by Gil Hodges. This would be his only stint as a manager, but Yost carved out a solid coaching career that saw him continue his partnership with Hodges when he joined the Mets and Yost eventually joined the Boston Red Sox and served as third base coach under Don Zimmer and Ralph Houk from 1978-1984.
This offered size 42 road jersey was worn by Yost during the 1978 season in Boston. This jersey features “BOSTON” sewn on across the chest in Tuscan font in red and navy tackle twill. The V-neck collar has a red/navy/red pattern and Yost’s number “36” is sewn on the back in McAuliffe style red and navy tackle twill. A “1978” tag and wash tag are sewn on the bottom front center tail. The size 42 tag and McAuliffe Uniform Corp. tag are sewn on the inside back collar. This jersey displays moderate use with some staining and comes with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
