New York Mets coach Bobby Valentine wore this blue Mets jacket during the 1983 MLB season. While the Mets experienced a down year in the standings, it was clear that the foundations for a successful World Series run in the near future were in place. Darryl Strawberry made his heralded MBL debut in 1983, hitting 26 homers and winning the National League Rookie of the Year award. A trade in June saw the Mets acquire Keith Hernandez, one of the key players to the Mets 1986 World Series championship team. This offered blue Mets cold-weather jacket as the Mets “NY” logo sewn on the left chest and a Mets skyline logo patch sewn on the left sleeve. A Starter size “L” tag is sewn on the back inside collar, with “2” written on the tag in black marker. “Val” is written just above the tag in black marker. Valentine has signed the orange interior lining of the jacket in black marker, inscribing “1983-warm-up- Jacket” in addition to his signature. This jacket comes with a LOA from Steiner Sports also signed by Valentine.
